Tuina is a Chinese massage therapy method which treats musculoskeletal problems, primarily, and is often referred to as "Chinese physiotherapy." In essence, it is more dynamic than Shiatsu but its purpose is similar: to restore the energetic balance which has been broken and thus brought about illness or pain in the body. During the treatment, the therapist combines many movements along the meridians (energy channels) on the body and at their scattered points, depending on the diagnosis and the purpose of the specific treatment. The treatment is done fully dressed on a massage table and is especially effective in treating acute problems such as muscle pain, joint pain and swollenness, but it is also effective in treating sleeping problems, digestive disorders and much more.
